Astronomy Buff

Christmas in Colorado

by Tony on December 26th, 2007

Is almost never like this:

Coloradochristmas

In fact, this is the first Christmas I can remember in 30 Christmases that we’ve EVER had snow on Christmas day. The days between November and February are usually the dry time in Colorado, everything is brown, crispy and dull.

This year was great, and last year we did have a huge snowstorm a couple of days before Christmas, but this year we had a very Norman Rockwell snowstorm on Christmas day.

[BTW, have you ever noticed how creepy some of Norman Rockwell’s paintings are? Yikes.]

Anyway, Happy Holidays from AstronomyBuff. (See? I can be politically correct, even with the bad aftertaste) I hope you guys are having a wonderful time. If you’re one of those who don’t observe (like me) or celebrate much (not like me, I love to use this as an excuse to have fun, be with friends and have fun - oh wait, I already said that) this time of year, you really should use this time to get some partying in. It’s a great excuse.

Oh, I forgot. What you’re looking at in the above picture is the Boulder valley. The Flatirons are in the background with the city of Boulder nestled like Whoville at their feet.

I took this while taking my daily walk. I never get tired of that view…

Sorry man, umm, just wanted to give you your paper, you ahhh left it out on the driveway, yeah that’s it. I wasn’t reading your mail, I promise.

We are pretty lucky to have a yard like this, aren’t we?

The views you get in Illinoise are much better, f’r sure (ie. the full moons, the five o’clock shadows of the sun…). ;) It is also nice and moist and wet here. Colorado= too dry.
