Great Introductory Astronomy Course is Now on Sale

by Tony on October 17th, 2007

After ordering Sean Carroll’s Dark Matter course, I’ve become a real fan of The Teaching Company. This company produces quality courses that are definitely worth your time.

Buying them can put some strain on your wallet though. Fortunately however they periodically put the courses on sale, and these sales can really save you a considerable amount of money. For example, I bought Sean’s course for $69.95 while on sale, now it’s selling for $254.00.

I’ve just been going through the introductory astronomy course they have called, Understanding the Universe: An Introduction to Astronomy, 2nd Edition and let me just say it’s nothing short of outstanding.

If you’d like a very thorough and up-to-date introduction to astronomy, this is your ticket to complete cosmic understanding.

The course contains 96 (!), 30 minute lectures and is presented in an easy to understand manner in topics ranging from planetary science, stellar and galactic astronomy and cosmology. This course is amazing.

Here’s the cool part, this thing normally sells for $799.00 but if you act now (actually you have until November 15th), you can get it for $229.95.

I also ordered a course on how the brain works entitled, Biology and Human Behavior: The Neurological Origins of Individuality, 2nd Edition because I’ve always been very interested in learning about why my brain thinks what it thinks and why I do what I do (well, the biological explanation for it anyway). There’s a really cool lecture in that course about the frontal cortex called, The Neurobiology of Aggression.

So run, don’t walk over to The Teaching Company and get a great start on your journey towards complete cosmic understanding.
