Holly Gilbert on the History Channel
Great news! A very good friend of mine, Dr. Holly Gilbert, is going to be on the History channel tonight.
She’s going to appear in the first episode of a new series called The Universe in an episode titled Secrets of the Sun, it airs tonight at 9pm EST.
Holly and I worked together for many years as associate scientists in the coronal group at HAO, until she accepted a position at Rice University. SInce that time, she has made a real name for herself and I couldn’t be happier.
Holly is one of the smartest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with, I’ll never forget how she blasted through her PhD in record tiime. She is very interested in chromospheric waves and uses SOHO and MLSO data in her work.
Please set your TiVO’s tonight to watch the episode. Hell, the entire series looks good to me, although I have a feeling this will be my favorite.

Just looking at the episode with Holly and must agree with Ken. Way to go and trust that it will be a long running series.

I admit it. I went searching the Web for Holly Gilbert after seeing her on “Secrets of the Sun,” and that’s how I found this blog entry.
Good show, and Holly comes across very well, demonstrating brains and beauty. I don’t usually go looking for CVs of subject matter experts I see on these sorts of programs, but Dr. Gilbert got me curious precisely because she was young and pretty, which is a cool combination to go with such academic expertise.
Hope this doesn’t make me a groupie.

Way to go Holly! I was just watching the show and decided to look up Holly. That’s very impressive for such a young doctor. Very interesting show also. Go Space!
