It’s Reader Appreciation Day at AstronomyBuff
You know, I never expected this blog to get as personal as it has. I’ve written about things I never thought I’d actually share with anyone, but when I’m sitting around, wondering ‘what the hell can I write about today that’s different from all the other blogs?’, stuff comes out that ends up being quite personal.
I guess when it comes down to it, that’s all I really have to offer that other bloggers can’t: my perspective (strange as it is), my experiences, and my feelings.
During the three months or so that I’ve been doing this, I’ve discovered a wonderful thing: I have very interesting readers. I consistently get comments that make me think, that fill me with gratitude and make me feel very comfortable opening up to you.
I know that not everyone reading this has a kind heart, but the ones who interact here are quite remarkable and I want to thank you.
- Julie: From the beginning you’ve had excellent insights, comments, and you’ve been hilarious. You’re perspective is unique and beautiful, you’re also an amazing writer and thinker.
- r06u3AP: (That’s rogueAP for those who don’t know - I hadda ask), you’ve provided me with some of the most thoughtful questions and wonderfully critical comments. You are clearly a critical thinker, we need more people like you. I particularly enjoyed our exchanges during Just Science Week.
- Beau: You followed me over from DeepAstronomy and YouTube. I’m humbled by your praise and I will work hard to make sure you get new content.
- Hsien: you were among the first to comment. You’ve been a good guide to helping do this in a quality manner. Your example is one I consider myself lucky to have.
- RĂșni Bang Larsen: you’ve also been here from the beginning, asking wonderful questions and providing much needed support when this blog had only about three readers (you, me and Julie).
- Matthijs: also from the beginning. Thanks for all of your great comments.
Of course, there have been many other commenters and I appreciate all of you, each and every one. I just wanted to thank the ones who stood out in my mind personally.
Now, I know this sounds like some kind of good-bye, but nothing could be farther from the truth. It’s just that I have really enjoyed interacting with everyone and I look forward to more of the same. It’s been the nicest surprise I’ve had in a while that my readers would turn out to be so great and come to mean so much to me.
You guys make blogging fun (ooh, that sounds like a Fleetwood Mac song).
Thanks and keep coming back!!!!

I only recently “joined the troops” of Astronomy Buff followers. It is great to see so many people with the same interests.
Thank you for sharing. :)
Your blogs are the only ones I read with great interest; the contents and subjects fit my beliefs and ideas very well.
They also fuel a fair amount of the “deeper”, peaceful conversations I have with my husband.
Yes, please keep the good stuff coming; I for one am eagerly waiting for your next V-blog. (hint-nudge)
Thank you Tony the Telescope !

Beau: I’ll do my best.
Frederica: I can’t tell you how much it means to me that you’re here. I’m so happy that these ideas spawn discussions.
As for the Vlogs, I really love doing them, but they take more time (although they also push me out of my comfort zone). It takes all I have just to make sure I can post meaningful content on this site everyday, but I do enjoy doing them though, and I have plans to make another one this weekend.
Tony the Telescope… I knew I’d regret that one… I’m never gonna live that down huh? :-)
