Misanthropic Principle
According to the anthropic prinicple, the universe is finely tuned for the existence of life. The problem with that idea is (one of many), is that if you look at the universe, most of it is pretty damned inhospitable and will kill all life in less than a second. Most of the universe is pretty darned unfriendly.
So, where is all this life that the universe is so predisposed to having? Maybe it’s hiding behind the dark matter. If the universe were so predisposed to life, it obviously isn’t predisposed to very much of it.
The cosmos doesn’t look all that bio-friendly to me.
Anyway, this guy (Neil deGrasse Tyson) puts it much better than I do…

According to the anthropic prinicple, the universe is finely tuned for the existence of life… over a very specific region of the observed universe, at an equally specific time in the history of the universe… and, as usual… you ignorant yet opinionated critics haven’t got a clue.
