The Face on Mars (Isn’t)
One of the things I like to do is make astronomy videos and I’ve been doing this for a while now on my website DeepAstronomy.com. I just finished one that discusses the Face on Mars, not because it’s controversial, it isn’t anymore - it’s been pretty well established that the face is just a geologic feature on Mars. No, I made this video because of a really cool animation that was produced by the European Space Agency in October, 2006 showing a flyby of the feature in hi resolution detail and in 3D.
I was so impressed by it that I wanted to make a video about it. The problem was, there really wasn’t enough scientific information to warrant a full video with a script, etc, so I turned it into a blog post and stuck the video at the end.

I plan to make videos like this for AstronomyBuff.com as well, although they will have a slightly different focus (I’m still trying to decide what exactly that focus is). If you have any ideas on what you’d like to learn about with respect to astronomy or the night sky in general, please leave a comment or email me. Otherwise, there’s absolutely no telling what you’ll get.
