The Great Thing About Life

by Tony on November 26th, 2007

… is that things never stay the same for long.

I’ve spent last week getting accommodating all of the changes life has recently thrown my way. I’ve been lucky because these changes have all been positive. I’m getting ready to move my entire life 1000 miles to the east. Illinois to be exact and for a variety of reasons that’s a very good thing.

But making changes like this can be irksome, challenging, and very time consuming, so I thought I’d give you all a heads up.

My apologies for not posting last week, but I’ve discovered that I just can’t post while I’m traveling, I get too distracted. For the next month or two, things are going to be quite crazy for me, and I ask for your patience through this time. I’ll try to keep the gaps to a minimum.

This week looks like I’ll have time to get some writing done so I’ll make sure to make the best of it.

Have you ever wondered why things happen the way they do? You go along with your life almost on automatic pilot for months and even years, when suddenly many changes come your way all at once.

Very disconcerting. Makes me think that maybe the universe is all about me. How very anthropic, the circumstances of my life are tuned just so I can live in it.

Yes, I know. I think that’s crap too.

….make you move to Illinois; next thing you know, you see jesus in the burrito. Poor you. I served you that burrito.

To what part of Illinois are you moving? BTW, don’t worry too much about seeing biblical figures in burritos in the Illionois/Missouri area…burritos are not very plentiful ’round these parts…and when they are, they’re not very good.

Hi Roger, I’m moving to Champaign to work at the University of Illinois. I have much to say about this position, but I’ll drag it out. The short version is I’ll be a member of the Dark Energy Survey project. And, as Julie alluded to above, she had something to do with it. Thanks Julie! I’ll leave it there for now.

As for the burritos, I know what you mean. Colorado has some of the best I’ve ever eaten, with or without Jesus’ face.
