Vampires Make the Best Astronomers (Video Blog)
It’s true if you think about it.
Oh sure, the part about needing to drink blood every night to feed is problematic, but if you get that out of the way early in the evening, you still have the rest of the night to get some research done.
I’ve finally made my first video for this blog. It’s a little long, about 10 minutes, but I went all over Boulder, Colorado showing some places of scientific interest. I also discuss the opposition of the planet Saturn.
It is my sincere hope that you guys will leave me comments and feedback about what you’d like future videos to discuss. I’m ready and willing to talk about anything astronomy-related that you’d like.
It’s funny, I had to delete my first version of this video because I forgot to put in the planetarium bit and by the time I noticed and went to delete the old version and upload the new one, 22 people had already watched it and many left feedback. That was after being on YouTube for about an hour. Anyway, one viewer suggested I do a video about my telescopes and what equipment I use when I go out at night. I’ll make that the topic of my next one.

Nice video, looks like a nice place to live.
Saturn has been my favorite object in the sky the past month. Even though it’s only with an 3 inch department store telescope, i can see it quite good.
Can’t wait to see it with the new 8 inch i ordered, which should be here before the end of the month.
About an idead of another video, hmm. How about how amature astronomers contributing to the professionals.
I have heard that in some cases amatures are a valuable asset to the professionals.
Would be interesting to know how to go about it, and maybe also how to report confirm and report new findings.

@Rúni Bang Larsen:
Excellent idea. It just so happens that an amateur astronomer in my area was just awarded the Chambliss Amateur Achievement Medal from the AAS. That medal is in recognition of contributions to amateur in science.
At the very least, I might get a phone conversation.
If you’re interested in contributing to professionals, I would recommend this group:
